We hopped in our Scion when my Dad arrived. Then drove to Utah all night. We arrived 11 and a half hours later...even after stopping for a wonderful breakfast at the Cocoa Palms Restaurant in Wendover, NV. We arrived Friday at 9 am. Utah time. Dad and Mike did the majority of driving. I drove 2 1/2 hours of that leg of the trip. (Sept. 17th) We stayed with Uncle Mike, Aunt Arleen, and family. We thank them for their hospitality.
Friday night we celebrated Alyssa Bailey's 23rd birthday. She came all the way from Oahu, Hawaii for the funeral. Hadn't seen her in probably 3 years so it was great to see her. The farthest traveled was Jared Huish who flew in from England. That shows how much we love Grandpa Bailey. Only two Bailey cousins didn't come, Stacey Huish Pratt who lives in Germany and has three little children and couldn't get away and Tony Huish who was taking it really hard. We truly missed them both!
Saturday (9/18/10) was Grandpa Bailey's funeral at a chapel in Springville, UT. We practiced "I Need Thee Every Hour" at 9:30 am. Then gathered in the viewing room at 10 am. After hugging and visiting with a lot of our relatives and friends of Grandpa and Gramma Lou, we had the family prayer given by Uncle Mike Bailey. Then we all got up and went into the chapel.
Conducting the funeral was Bishop Gervais, Uncle Mike's bishop
Chorister: Robert Johnson, my dad

*Neat thing about all these songs are that Rebecca, my little sister, asked Grandpa a while back what his favorite hymns were and recorded them in her journal.

*This was neat, because he had some stories to tell that I didn't know before. I'm recording them in another part of the blog. A tribute to Grandpa that I am drafting.

What a great legacy Grandpa left behind! We miss you and love you grandpa!
Saturday after the funeral there was a luncheon at the Springville chapel.
For dinner we went to Chuck-A-Rama
Sunday, 9/19/10 my family, Mom & Dad, and Becca went to Temple Square in SLC and saw "Music and the Spoken Word" live. It was awesome! The prophet came too! He was in the front, on the side, and came in moments before the performance started. I saw President Monson and I nudged Mom and told her. She looked and agreed it looked like him. Turned out it was! That is the closest I've ever been to the prophet! Gave me a really spiritual feeling.
After the performance, we toured the conference center, Temple Square, both visitor's centers, and the Church History Museum.
At 3, we got into the cars exhausted and drove to Becca's apartment to relax. Then we all went to Aunt Kathy & Uncle Larry's house in Eagle Mountain to have dinner and play games.
Monday at 4 am we left back to California in our little car with Mom.
